Under the totalitarian system of Chinese communist regime, Chinese people cannot enjoy the freedom of expression, speech, religious believes, assemblies, etc. And with the state-sanctioned oppressive censorship on press and internet freedom, Chinese people’s voice for freedom is always stamped out or filtered out systematically. Freedom House, an independent watchdog organization dedicated to the expansion of freedom and democracy around the world, has named Beijing as having the most controlled, most oppressive and least free internet in the world.
In the past two-three years, many Chinese key opinion leaders (KOLs) who reside outside China have taken advantage of the social media platforms to set up their own channels or accounts, to regularly share their observations and insights of global affairs with Chinese people. Their voices are such previous sources for Chinese people to obtain objective perspectives that are different from the Chinese communist party (CCP) propaganda and disinformation. Their videos and tweets have been watched and shared for millions of Chinese people outside China. And more amazingly, many Chinese people who could jump out of the CCP’s great firewall to obtain truthful information, have downloaded, copied and shared these KOLs’ views to tens of millions of Chinese people inside China. Meanwhile, these KOLs have also obtained tremendous feedbacks from Chinese people, establishing loyal fans globally, inside and outside China.
At the same time, CCP has aggressively expanded its disinformation campaigns and censorship skills to the West via different infiltration tactics and channels. As these KOLs’ social media platforms have become key communication pipelines for Chinese people and the outside world, it has been clearer than ever that these KOLs have to battle with CCP internet armies, as well as unfair restrictions or censorship by the policies and algorithms of big Tech companies in the West.
Therefore, the Truth Warriors Alliance (TWA), a global alliance of KOLs, was established, with the mission to counter the Chinese communist regime’s propaganda and disinformation globally, via public forums and campaigns. TWA will facilitate the communication among Chinese KOLs and western leaders and experts, and assist to protect these precious channels when subjected to CCP attacks or other unfair treatments. With our collective efforts, we hope that more and more people in the world will know what is the reality inside China, and more and more Chinese people will break away from the lies of the CCP, hear the supporting voice from the world and embrace a hope of future China without CCP.
Executive Director: Xiaoxu Sean Lin, Ph.D.
Dr. Lin is an immigrant from Mainland China, a survivor of Tiananmen Square Massacre in 1989. He is also a veteran with 9-year service in U.S. Army as an enlisted soldier and commissioned officer. Dr. Lin is also a member of the Committee of Present Danger: China. He is a member of the Coalition to Advance Religious Freedom in China, under the International Religious Freedom Roundtable. Dr. Lin is also a senior analyst and commentator for China Affairs, and frequently appears at NTD, Epochtimes, SOH, VOA and RFA.
Dr. Lin has a BS degree in Science from Zhejiang University in China, a Master degree on International Relations from Syracuse University, and a Ph.D. in Microbiology in University of Alabama at Birmingham.
